A New Phase For Greens For Nuclear

As people following us may be aware, we have taken our motion to two conferences now (2025 and Spring 2026) and we have been astounded by the level of support you have given it, thank-you! We have been pleased to discuss it with a wide range of people as well as to receive a multiplier for future conferences.

Unfortunately, because it did not perform well enough on the prioritisation ballot, it was not heard at either of the conferences. It is worth saying that the Green Party receives many very worthy motions and I myself will concede that many of them were even more important to hear than our motion. The good news is that there is another option to get heard, accreditation.

Accreditation means that the Policy Development Committee (PDC) certifies that a motion has been well researched and the proposers have already discussed it with a range of internal and external stakeholders. It must be brought by a recognised body, the obvious one for this motion is the Policy Working Group (PWG) for Energy (EPWG). PWGs look after specific policy chapters, the Energy PWG looks after the Energy chapter, which is the one we are mostly changing.

The good news is that the EPWG has agreed to set up a subgroup for us to look at bringing our motion to the next conference as the EPWG. We’ll still need to go through the steps of consultation and editing the motion and ultimately get the EPWG to agree to put their name to the final motion.

That’s where you can help!

If you are a Green Party of England and Wales (GPEW) member (and if you aren’t please join) you can become a member of the EPWG by emailing: pdc@greenparty.org.uk

Please do so as soon as possible as it may take a while to get you added to the group for technical reasons.

Once in the group, you’ll be able to participate in discussions about the content of the motion, help us get the EPWG to support it, and help consult other stakeholders.

We look forward to seeing you there.

P.S. we now have an Instagram! Be sure to follow us there.
